FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Frostburg State baseball kicked off the 2010 campaign with a strong win on day one of the Methodist Tournament against No. 23 Farmindale State, Friday morning, 13-1.

Britton Quayle (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park (Anne Arnudel CC)) came on in relief of Ridenour late in the sixth stiking out two and not allowing a hit.

Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area) opened the game for the Bobcats (1-0) with a quick single up the middle. Junior
Daniel Heatwole (Dayton, Va./Turner Ashby (Hagerstown CC)) followed with a single of his own through the right side. Classmate
Matt Greene (Westminster, Md./South Carroll (Hagerstown CC)) reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. An error by the Farmindale State (0-1) centerfielder put Ridenour on first and scored Kroboth to give the Bobcats the lead, 1-0. Ridenour advanced to second on a balk that scored Greene to increase the FSU lead, 2-0.
Farmingdale State got one run back in the top of the third after a double steal of second and home by Nick Wiwczar and Zak Nersesian, respectively.
The Bobcat bats were quiet until the fifth inning when they put seven runs on the scoreboard to solidify the lead, 9-1. Senior
Andrew Derr (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick) opened the inning with a single to second base. FSU scored its first run of the inning off an RBI single off the bat of Heatwole to score Derr. Greene singled up the middle for his second hit of the game and scored along with Heatwole on a two-run single from senior
Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch). Ridenour scored, after being intenionally walked, on a throwing error to put sophomore

Adam Summerfelt (Gambrills, Md./Archbishop Spalding) came out to pinch hit for junior
Ben Oberman (Loganville, Ga./Loganville) and doubled to centerfield to score Sapp and Garrity. Sophomore
Shane Boyd (Gaithersburg, Md./Damascus) came out to pinch run for Summerfelt and scored the Bobcats final run of the inning off another Farmingdale State error.
In the middle of the sixth inning, Quayle came on in relief of Ridenour, who stayed the game as the designated hitter.
Frostburg State added its final four runs of the game in the eigth. Heatwole walked followed by a single from Greene. Greene advanced to second and Heatwole to third on a wild pitch. Ridenour walked to load the bases. Junior
Lucas Streeter (Litchfield, N.H./Pinkerton Academy) came out to run for Ridenour. Garrity singled in Heatwole for his third RBI of the game. Junior
Timothy Sutcliffe (Lansdale, Pa./Christopher Dock) singled down the left side to drive in Greene. Sapp walked to drive in Streeter for the third run of the inning. Garrity scored the final run of the inning and game off a single from Boyd.
Garrity led the Bobcats going 2-for-4 with three RBIs, followed by Greene who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
The Bobcats return to action later today, Friday, February 19 at 7:00 pm to face Roanoke in the Methodist Tournament.
