BOX SCORE - GAME TWO
CRESSON, Pa.- The Frostburg State baseball team swept a doubleheader from AMCC opponent Mt. Aloysius, Thursday afternoon.
Junior
Freddy Foshay (Chesapeake, Va./Hickory) pitched a magnificent game in the first contest allowing just one earned run in a complete game effort to notch his fourth win of the season.
The Bobcats (20-10, 12-2) mustered all the runs they would need in a three-run third inning, which was highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of junior
Jeff Kroboth (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth Area). Kroboth also scored in the inning as classmate
Joe Garrity (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) followed with a double of his own.
MTA scored two runs in the sixth inning but fell short as the Bobcat defense held strong in the seventh to lock the 3-2 win.
The second game saw another great pitching performance as junior
Greg Beachy (Grantsville, Md./Northern Garrett) struck out nine Mouties (19-13, 9-5), while allowing just two walks in another complete game effort.
Frostburg State took a quick 12-3 lead into the fifth inning and held strong on the back of Beachy’s strong performance on the mound. Mt. Aloysius added a single run in the bottom of the seventh before Beachy recorded a strikeout and an infield pop fly to end the game with the final score at 12-4.
Freshman
Pat Sapp (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) led FSU at the plate with a 2-for-4 contest that included back-to-back two-run triples in the fourth and fifth inning. Kroboth had a strong contest at the plate in game two as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
FSU returns to action with an AMCC doubleheader against Medaille on Saturday, April 18 at 1:00 pm at Bob Wells Field.
