Freshman Joanna McIntire
FROSTBURG, Md. – Freshman Joanna McIntire (Damascus, Md./Damascus) scored the game-winning goal just shy of three minutes into double overtime to hand Frostburg State an 11-10 women's lacrosse victory over St. Vincent, Tuesday afternoon.

Box Score

With the win, FSU snapped a six-game losing streak and is now 3-7 on the season. The Bobcats last victory came via overtime as they defeated Wesley, 12-11, back on March 7.

After both teams scored in the first overtime period, Frostburg State made the most of its opportunity in the second OT as it scored on the only shot attempted by either team during the frame. Freshman Rachel Frank (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) found McIntire in front of the net for her 14th goal of the season with 2:06 to play. McIntire has now scored in five-straight games, including 13 goals in the last five contests.

FSU trailed 7-3 with 22:51 left in the second but surged ahead with a 6-1 run that covered almost 20 minutes in the half. Frank capped the run with her only goal of the game to hand FSU a 9-8 lead with 1:00 minute to play. However, the Bearcats (1-4) sent the game into overtime when Liz Louison netted her game-high fifth score of the contest with just 35 seconds to play.

Junior Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) led the Bobcats in scoring with three goals on three shots. Senior Meredith Martin (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) and junior Ali Zinnell (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) each chipped in two, while Zinnel's second score came in the first overtime.

Senior Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) recorded her fifth double-digit save performance of the season as she stopped 15 shots, including nine in the first half as FSU trailed by just one, 4-3, at the break.

St. Vincent, which used a four-goal run over both halves for the 7-3 lead, was led in net by Erica Lisi with 11 saves and 10 goals allowed. Megan Vargo played 20:59 in net for the Bearcats. She made two saves and allowed one goal before leaving the game with an injury.

The two teams exchanged goals over the first four minutes of action before SVC scored back-to-back goals for a 3-1 lead. The Bobcats battled back to tie the contest at 3-3 when Hildebrand and freshman Ali Kapustin (Columbia, Md./Marriotts Ridge) each scored on a free position.

Frostburg State returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Waynesburg at 1:00 pm.
