MEADVILLE, Pa. - Jensen Paterson scored six goals and Allegheny cruised to a 22-14 win over visiting Frostburg State in non-conference women's lacrosse action, Tuesday.
The Gators (1-0) broke a 3-3 tie at 21:30 with a 5-1 run that covered the next 12 minutes of play for an 8-4 lead at 8:31. After the Bobcats (2-2) narrowed the deficit to 8-5, Allegheny then used a 6-0 spurt to close out the first half with a 14-5 edge.
The run continued in the second period as the Gators opened the stanza on a 4-1 run for an 18-6 lead.
Frostburg State narrowed the gap over the remainder of the game as it sandwiched a pair of four-goal runs around an Allegheny 4-0 run of its own as the game ended 22-14.
Freshman
Rachel Frank (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) netted three first half goals, including two in the first few minutes to help FSU to the 3-3 tie. She then netted three second-half scores for a total of six for the contest. Junior
Elisabeth Hildebrand (Frederick, Md./Walkersville) accounted for four more goals for the Bobcats, including three in the second period.
Senior
Meredith Martin (Farifax, Va./WT Woodson) added two goals, while junior
Ali Zinnel (Chestertown, Md./Kent County) and
Lindsey Chaffman (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) each scored one.
Kiah Voyer-Colbath and Meg Grossman each scored four goals to highlight eight different Gators that found the net.
Frostburg State returns to the field when it travels to Lynchburg on March 13 at 2:00 pm.
