Men's Soccer Defeats Pitt-Greensburg 4-2

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Senior Alex Super (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's) scored two second half goals as the Frostburg State men's soccer team defeated Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg, 4-2, Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Brian Davis (Rockville, Md./Wootton) put Frostburg State (5-6-1, 1-3) on the board at the 15:49 mark when he netted his fifth goal of the season off a corner kick from junior Raul Diaz (Clarksburg, Md./Damascus), 1-0. Frostburg State held the one-point advantage over Pitt-Greensburg (3-8-1, 2-2-1) going into the break, as neither team's offense was able to find the net.

Super scored his first goal just over four minutes into the second half to give Frostburg State a two-point lead, 2-0. At 63:56, junior Mike Pistorio (Bel Air, Md./Harford Technical) fed an assist to Super who found the back of the net for the second time, enlarging FSU's advantage to three, 3-0.

Less than nine minutes after Super's second goal, sophomore Francisco Diaz (Silver Spring, Md./Damascus) netted his first goal of the season off an assist from senior Greg Bistany (Greenbelt, Md./St. John's College), 4-0.

Pitt-Greensburg fought back when Kyle Cermak found the back of the net off an assist from Sam Kuhn and Jordan Eddens at 77:56 to put UPG on the board, 4-1. Less than twenty seconds later, Kuhn netted his fifth goal of the season after being fed an assist from Ben Ellis to give the end score 4-2.

Junior FSU goalkeeper Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) posted two saves in the win while UPG goalie Andrew Kiger had five stops in the loss.

Frostburg State led Pitt-Greensburg in shots (14-8), but the teams held even in corner kicks (4-4).

FSU is back on the field in Bobcat Stadium against AMCC opponent Hilbert College on October 10 at 7:30 pm.
