BRADFORD, Pa.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team posted its third-straight shutout with a 7-0 win over AMCC opponent Pitt-Bradford, Saturday.
The Bobcats, who's last two shutouts came against Shenandoah (5-0) and Franklin & Marshall (3-0), are now 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the AMCC.
FSU put the game out of reach in the first half with six goals including four within a seven minute span.
Sophomore
Andres Vega (Potomac, Md./Wootton) scored the game-winning goal 10:21 into play off a pass from junior
Ricky Marchant (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson). Seven minutes later, the Bobcats pushed their lead to 2-0 when junior
Sean Jones (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) scored the first of his two goals off an assist from senior
Adam Gracia (Rockville, Md./Wootton).
Marchant scored his only goal of the afternoon at 29:11 off a junior
Mike Bowers (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) feed for a 3-0 lead. Gracia extended the FSU cushion with back-to-back goals midway through the opening half for a 5-0 edge. Junior
Steven Jacobsen (Waldorf, Md./West Lake) closed out the first period with a goal just 45 seconds before intermission off a pass from Gracia.
Jones closed the scoring with his second score of the contest at 54:06.
Frostburg State held an edge in every major statistical category including shots (28-5) and corner kicks (11-1).
Bobcat keeper
Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) played 69 minutes to earn the win while making three saves. Freshman
Tyler Miller (Frostburg, Md./Mt. Ridge) played the final 21 minutes and helped preserve the shutout.
FSU is back in action on Tuesday, September 23 when it hosts St. Vincent at 7:30 pm.
