Men's Soccer Dominates Mt. Aloysius 9-0

CRESSON, Pa. - The Frostburg State men's soccer team wasted no time in taking care of Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Mt. Aloysius 9-0, Saturday afternoon.

Junior Sean Jones (Pasadena, Md./Severna Park) put the Bobcats (12-3-1, 6-1-1) on the board as soon as the game started by netting his seventh goal of the season just 15 seconds into the game.

Junior Ricky Marchant (Rockville, Md./Walter Johnson) single-handedly put the game out of reach by amassing a hat-trick before the 14 minute mark. Marchant's first goal came at 6:43 on an assist by classmate Alex Super (Annapolis, Md./St. Mary's). His other two goals came unassisted at 12:24 and 13:59, respectively.

Freshman Robbie Wullschleger (Elton, Md./Bohemia Manor) got in on the scoring action to net his first goal of the season at the 28:51 mark. Jones registered an assist on the Wullschleger goal.

The first half ended as sophomore Joe DiCicco (Cape May Courthouse, N.J./Middle Township) took a pass from freshman Francisco Diaz (Silver Spring, Md./Damascus) and placed it in the goal just 15 seconds before the half expired.

In the second half, the FSU offense continued to dominate the contest as Diaz found the net himself just ten minutes into the period. The goal was the first of the season for Diaz and came on an assist from freshman Mike Hurst (Church Hill, Md./Queen Annes County).

Diaz and Hurst would again connect just six seconds later, but this time it would be Hurst scoring his first goal of the season.

The scoring would end when DiCicco found the back of the net with his second goal of the day at the 88:40 mark to cement the blowout win at 9-0.

FSU goalkeepers Jay Herford (Crofton, Md./South River) and Tyler Miller (Frostburg, Md./Mt. Ridge) combined for the shutout victory. Mountie (0-10, 0-7) keeper John Gerholt was kept busy all day by the relentless Bobcat attack as he recorded eight saves on the afternoon.

Frostburg State outshot Mt. Aloysius 24-3 on the day.

The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, October 28 when they travel to AMCC opponent La Roche for the regular-season finale at 6:00 pm.
