FSU Uses Three Second Half Goals to Put Away Hood 4-1

FROSTBURG, Md. - Sophomore Dillon Muise (Germantown, Md./Clarksburg) scored a goal and added an asist and the Frostburg State men's soccer team scored three second half goals to earn a 4-1 win over Hood College, Tuesday night. The win is the first for the Bobcat men's team as a member of the Capital Athletic Conference.

Box Score

FSU (3-4-1, 1-0-1) held the edge offensively with a 14-5 lead in shots. Muise had a hand in the game's first goal as he dropped a pass back to sophomore Jason King (Herndon, Va./Herndon), who found the net for his first goal of the season in the 24th minute.

The Bobcats had two other great chances in the first half as sophomore Shawn Baker (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) and junior Michael Bistany (Greenbelt, Md. / Damatha Catholic) had excellent scoring chances turned away on the backline by Hood defenders. The Blazers (2-5, 0-2) tied the contest at 37:03 when Jacob Ausherman scored on the team's only shot of the opening half.

Muise netted what would eventually be the game-winner in the 59th minute as he found the left side of the goal from just inside the 18-yard box. Senior Francisco Dias (Silver Spring, Md./Damascus) was credited with the assist for his first point of the year.

Frostburg State added two insurance goals later in the half when most of the starters had left the game. Junior Greg Hill (Upper Marlboro, Md./Bishop McNamara) scored his first goal of the season in the 80th minute off a pass from freshman Chris Jones (California, Md./Leonardtown).

In the 87th minute, freshman Jason Bennett (Dunkirk, Md./Northern) found classmate Micah Bunting (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) for the game's final goal. Bunting, appearing in his first collegiate game, took a pass from Bennett and slipped a shot past the Hood keeper to seal the win.

FSU senior keeper Stephen Cavallo (Charlotte, N.C./East Lincoln) earned the win in net while HC's William Lane endured the loss allowing all four goals.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they host Salisbury at 2:00 pm.
