Rubin Stevenson was promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations for Frostburg State University late in the fall of 2007 after serving as the school's head football coach for the eight previous years and the director of compliance since 1994.

Stevenson directs the athletic department facilities and game management operations. During his time as Senior Associate and Associate A.D., he has overseen several facility upgrades to the Cordts P.E. Center including complete renovations to the FSU pool and weight rooms. Stevenson also helped with renovations to
Bobcat Stadium that included new utilities, pressbox, Presidential Suite, concession stand, walk ways, athletic training room, two team locker rooms and bleachers.

Stevenson, the 11th head coach in the program's history, guided the Bobcats to a 31-47 overall record during his tenure. He also led the Bobcats to a 13-21 mark in the Atlantic Central Football Conference, two ACFC Championships (2002 and 2003) and a berth in the 2002 and 2005 Eastern College Athletic Conference Southwest Championship Game.

One hundred and three players earned All-ACFC honors during his tenure while garnering two conference Coach of the Year awards for himself. He also guided three players (Kevin Culbert, George O’Brien and Roy Olson) to All-American status. Olson was selected to two All-American teams (Hewlett Packard and American Football Coaches Association) in 2002 and one (College Sports Information Directors) in 2003.

Stevenson has also served as FSU's defensive coordinator since his arrival in 1992.

Stevenson handled numerous responsibilities during his tenure as an assistant. In addition to his role as defensive coordinator, he served as FSU's special teams coach from 1992 to 1999 and was named the assistant head coach in 1997.

He has also coached the secondary, defensive line and inside linebacker positions. His reputation as a top defensive mind earned him a coaching internship with the Washington Redskins for their 1999 training camp held at FSU.

Stevenson also served as director of compliance for the FSU athletic department since 1994. His responsibilities include monitoring the academic status and eligibility of all student-athletes as well as interpreting NCAA rules and regulations.

Stevenson, who earned his bachelor's degree in social work from Salisbury in 1987, is married to the former Patti Spencer. The two are proud parents of twins Faith and Grace, born May 7, 2004.
