Katie Amedure

Katie Amedure enters her 5th season as the Frostburg State Acrobatics & Tumbling Head Coach.

In 2024, FSU continued its momentum as one of the premier A&T programs in the country, winning their second-consecutive MEC Tournament Championship and returning to the NCATA National Tournament as the No. 7 seed. The team secured an overall record of 7-3, which included a pair of ranked wins over Hawaii Pacific and Fairmont State. At the MEC Event Finals, the Bobcats once again led all teams with 6 titles on the day.

Under Amedure's direction, Abbie Baker repeated as an NCATA All-American, while Navah Marierose was named the MEC Specialist of the Year, as Laiken Spahr and Sydney Green joined both in receiving All-MEC honors.

The 2023 season marked a historic rise for the program, beginning the season at #12 by the NCATA preseason poll. Frostburg rattled off seven straight victories to begin the year, including wins over ranked opponents King, West Liberty, and Fairmont State. It also marked the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and perennial powerhouse Baylor, the seven-time reigning champions and consensus #1 team in the country.

After clinching the MEC regular season title, FSU rolled through the MEC Tournament, defeating Glenville State in the semifinals before taking down Fairmont in the Championship meet for their first-ever Mountain East Tournament Championship. The run culminated in the team receiving the #7 seed in the NCATA National Finals, the program's first selection to the national tournament, where they lost to another dynasty in #2 Oregon. The Bobcats weren't done, however, as during the finals, Frostburg did bring home some hardware. Amedure was voted the NCATA National Coach of the Year and the team won the Open Pyramid National Event Final with a score of 9.825.

Among Mountain East Conference honors, Amedure repeated as the Coach of the Year, while Isabella Mongelluzzo earned Freshman of the Year and Abbie Baker was the MEC Athlete of the Year. FSU won a whopping nine event finals at the MEC Championships, as four athletes earned First Team All-MEC with one Second Team performer. Kaitlin Bolton and Baker earned distinguished honors from the NCATA, with the former named NCATA Academic All-American and the latter being an NCATA All-American.

In the 2022 season, Amedure led the Bobcats to a 6-5 record on the season, clinching a spot in the MEC Tournament. The NCATA voted FSU as the #15 team in the country during the coaches preseason poll, marking the first-ever ranking for the program. During the MEC Tournament, the Bobcats defeated West Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinals before ultimately falling to Fairmont State in the MEC Championship to earn second place.

The Bobcats won seven individual event finals, the most by any team at the championships. Nunley herself was named Mountain East Conference Coach of the Year, while coaching the MEC Specialist of the Year, Alexis Palmieri. Amedure also coached three All-MEC First Team and one Second Team performer.

In her first season as Head Coach of the Bobcats in 2021, she led the team to a semifinal appearance in the MEC Tournament. The Bobcats went 2-4 on the season and clinched their spot in the MEC Tournament with a regular season finale win over West Virginia Wesleyan.

Off the mat, Amedure coached 13 NCATA  All-Academic team honorees along with 12 All-MEC Academic selections.

Amedure came to Frostburg after serving as an assistant acrobatics & tumbling coach at Adrian College since September of 2018. In her only year with Bulldogs, she signed 14 incoming first-year athletes and helped AC to four wins in seven meets this past spring.
