Matt Brinton

Matt Brinton enters his second year as the head swimming coach at Frostburg State for the 2023-24 season.

The 2022-23 season was a successful one for Matt Brinton and the Frostburg State swim program. Both the men's and women's teams captured conference titles to end the MEC season. The conference title was a program first for men's swimming, and a marker in back-to-back seasons for the women's team. Brinton coached four First Team All-MEC athletes across the two teams, including the GMAC/MEC Championship Swimmer of the Meet in standout sophomore Kendall Hooper.

He previously was the head coach at Division II King University for the 2021-22 season. Under his watch, the Tornadoes set 16 new team records, recorded 13 top three finishes at the Conference Carolinas Championships, and had one individual conference champion.

Prior to King, Brinton spent a season at Division III Emory & Henry College, where he served as the assistant coach for the swimming programs. At E&H, he also operated as the recruiting coordinator and had deck coaching responsibilities, as he helped to bring in the largest recruiting class in school history.

Brinton's collegiate career occurred at Towson University, as during the 2013-14 season he helped push the Tigers to U.S. Nationals and capture the Colonial Athletic Association Conference Championship.

He graduated from Towson University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, with concentrations in Anthropology and Criminal Justice.
