Frostburg State University director of athletics Troy A. Dell has announced that Hayley Engster will take over the reins of the Bobcat women's lacrosse program and serve as head coach following a national search.

Engster inherits a Frostburg squad that posted nine wins this past season and returns three of its top four scorers, two starting defenders and a nine-game winner in goal. The Bobcats finished second in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) in caused turnovers (183), fourth in draw controls (206), allowed the fourth fewest goals (171) and finished sixth in goals scored (194) and assists (70).

"I would like to thank director of athletics Troy Dell and members of the search committee for giving me this outstanding opportunity to lead the Frostburg State University women's lacrosse program," said Engster. "I've been extremely impressed with the vision of Frostburg's athletics programs and I'm thrilled to be a part of this community. I am very excited to get started and help guide our student-athletes to achieve their goals both on and off the field."

Engster arrives at Frostburg after serving as the head women's lacrosse coach at Sweet Briar since July 2013. She also served as the director of strength and conditioning and the assistant facilities director and lecturer for physical education. The Vixens earned a spot on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll in 2014 and 2015 and placed two players on the All-ODAC teams this past spring. The Vixens also had the Division III leader in caused turnovers.

Prior to Sweet Briar, Engster was a graduate assistant at Salisbury University for two years, serving the program Exercise is Medicine and as a volunteer strength and conditioning coach.

Engster coached women's lacrosse and was the assistant director of the Diamonds Lacrosse Club from 2009-11. She was the women's lacrosse coach at the Park School in 2011 and coached women's lacrosse at the St. Paul's School for girls in 2010.

Engster coached one season at Goucher College in 2008, helping guide the women's lacrosse team to the Landmark Conference Championship game.

Engster was a standout women's lacrosse student-athlete at Lynchburg from 2003-07, serving as team captain as a senior. She helped the Hornets to 31 wins during her four years, while starting 18 games as a senior with 14 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.

Engster served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (2006-07), was a member of the Director of Athletics Honor Roll (2005-07), was a Dean' List student and three-time All-ODAC Academic Award winner.

She earned her bachelor's degree in exercise physiology from Lynchburg in 2007 and her master's degree from Salisbury in applied health physiology in 2013.
