Kevin Scola has recently been announced as an assistant coach with both the Frostburg State track & field and cross country teams by head coach Dale Luy.
Scola arrives at Frostburg after working as a teacher/counselor for Academy Programs in Fairmont, W.Va. for the last three years. He was promoted to team leader in August 2014.
Prior to Fairmont, Scola served as an assistant coach at Rutgers-Newark (2007-11) and helped start the program in 2007. He coached the middle and long distance runners, supervised practices and helped with program fundraising. He also assisted with the sprinters, throwers and jumpers along with recruiting.
During his time at Rutgers-Newark, Scola coached 20 all-conference athletes, 40 ECAC qualifiers, five conference champions, two NCAA All-Americans and three NCAA Championship qualifiers.
Scola has also worked in the fan development office of the Philadelphia Flyers and served as a basketball coach at Collingswood High School in New Jersey.
Scola, a USATF Level I certified coach, earned his bachelor’s degree from High Point University in May 2006 in sport management and he completed his master’s degree in liberal studies from Rutgers-Newark in May 2010.
He was a member of the three-time NCAA Division I Big South Conference Cross Country Champions while at High Point.
