Kevin McDonough

Kevin McDonough enters his third season as an assistant with the Frostburg men’s lacrosse program in 2018 and it marks the second year as the team’s top assistant.
 
Over his previous two seasons, Frostburg has posted 24 wins and 10 CAC wins with two appearances in the CAC Tournament. A total of eight players earned All-CAC honors and the Bobcats set a program record by reaching 15th in the USILA Top-20 poll after opening the season at 11-0.
 
Last spring, Frostburg finished 9-7 overall that included an 11-8 upset of No. 9 Cabrini early in the season. The Bobcats ranked third in the CAC in clearing percentage (84.1), man-down defense (68.8) and scoring defense (8.06), while making their fifth-straight trip to the CAC Tournament.
 
In 2016, the Bobcats finished with 15 wins and reached as high as 15th in the country, the program’s highest national ranking, and opened the season 11-0. FSU led the CAC in clearing percentage (88.6), face-off winning percentage (68.1) and man-down defense (82.2).
 
McDonough came to Frostburg after graduating from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in May. As a three-year starting defensive midfielder for the Retrievers, he was a two-time captain and tallied two goals and nine assists, along with 87 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. During his time at UMBC, McDonough volunteered as a mentor at local elementary schools throughout the off-season.
 
A graduate of Saint Anthony’s high school in South Huntington, New York, McDonough was a member of the school’s Catholic Championship varsity team.
 
McDonough graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s of arts degree in history and plans on pursuing his master’s degree while at FSU.
