Frostburg State men’s Lacrosse head coach Tommy Pearce announce that Kevin McDonough will remain on his staff as the top assistant for the 2017 season. Last year, McDonough served as the graduate assistant for the Bobcats.
In his first year with FSU, he assisted the Bobcats to 15 wins and a fourth-place finish in the CAC Tournament. In a record-breaking season, the Bobcats reached as high as 15th in the country, the program’s highest national ranking, and opened the season 11-0. The Bobcats also garnered two All-Americans in seniors Tom Kraemer and Erik Geiser. The 2016 Bobcats also had six players named to All-CAC Teams and ranked near the top of the conference in several statistical categories.
McDonough came to Frostburg after graduating from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County in May. As a three-year starting defensive midfielder for the Retrievers, he was a two-time captain and tallied two goals and nine assists, along with 87 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers. During his time at UMBC, McDonough volunteered as a mentor at local elementary schools throughout the off-season.
A graduate of Saint Anthony’s high school in South Huntington, New York, McDonough was a member of the school’s Catholic Championship varsity team.
McDonough graduated in May with a bachelor’s of arts degree in history and plans on pursuing his master’s degree while at FSU.
