Alex Williams is in his second year as the top assistant coach with the Frostburg State men’s lacrosse team in 2020. Williams will work primarily with the defense and faceoffs.
Williams arrived at FSU after serving as an assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Roberts Wesleyan College from 2016 through the fall of 2018.
The Redhawks won 10 games during his tenure and Williams played a crucial role in developing and executing successful faceoff and man-down defensive units.
Williams was in charge of developing practice plans, assisting with the program’s budget and scholarship funds, breaking down film and he served as the program’s recruiting coordinator.
During the 2017 season, Williams helped Sam Schubach rank inside the top 20 in faceoffs while the Redhawks as a team finished third in the country in man-down defense and 15th in team defense.
Last spring, Roberts Wesleyan finished eighth in DII in man-down defense, while Hunter Lemieux ranked in the top 25 in goals per game. RWC finished fifth in the ECC standings.
Williams earned his bachelor’s degree from Roberts Wesleyan in cross disciplinary studies with a concentration in business administration in 2015.
He was a four-year starter for the Redhawk lacrosse team from 2012-15. As a senior, Williams started al 14 contests with 21 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers, while as a junior, he started 14 games and scooped up 18 ground balls.
