John Buerkle enters his first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Frostburg State baseball program in the fall of 2016. Buerkle will work with the Bobcat hitters, outfielders and assist in recruiting efforts.

Buerkle, who brings an extensive baseball pedigree as a player and coach, recently spent time as a student assistant with Pitt-Greensburg in 2016. He assisted a team that had eight all-conference players and collected the most conference wins (13) in history.

As a player at Pitt-Greensburg, Buerkle recorded the highest career fielding percentage (.989) in school history and won the 2015 AMCC All-Sportsmanship Award. Buerkle also earned All-Region honors in 2013 at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) South Campus.Â

Buerkle has logged over 200 volunteer hours at baseball camps and clinics around the region. He graduated from Pitt-Greensburg in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in political science.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Buerkle currently resides in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He is pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from Frostburg State University.
