Dean Peterson enters his fourth season with FSU in the 2022-23 athletic year.
Peterson arrived at FSU after a pair of stops at Allegheny College of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Peterson developed the Gator’s pitching staff in 2019-20 and the team won five games before the season was cut short. His first stop at AC came in 1999-02 and the team won 130 games during those four seasons.
Prior to Allegheny, Peterson served as an assistant baseball coach at Smithsburg High School from 2018-19, an assistant coach at Messiah College in 2017 and the head coach of the Smithsburg Baseball Club from 2014-19.
Away from the field, Peterson served as the pastor of community and care for the Lifehouse Church from 2013-16 and was a U.S. Secret Service Officer from 2002-13.
As a baseball player, Peterson was a ninth-round selection of the Boston Red Sox in 1993 and pitched for the organization from ’93-98.
Peterson graduated from Allegheny College with his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2001 and earned his master’s degree from Liberty University in pastoral counseling in 2009.
