FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Basketball team fell to Fairmont State 90-66 in their regular season finale on Saturday.

Fairmont got the first points on the board at the free throw line, with sophomore Julie Spinelli answering on five unanswered through a lay-in and three on redshirt sophomore Mandy Roman's assist. The Fighting Falcons then hit three straight buckets to lead by three, as Spinelli and junior Jenna Muha traded baskets to get within 10-9 at the midway point of the period. Spinelli continued to drive the Bobcat offense with a jumper and another triple, while sophomore Ayla Hileman found freshman Ella Sabatos down low for a layup, with Fairmont responding every step of the way to hold a one-point advantage. In the final two minutes, Spinelli answered a Falcon three with one of her own, however the hosts would net the final three points of the quarter on a split trip to the line and a driving layup to lead 23-19.

Roman fed Muha for the opening score of the second frame, with sophomore Laekyn Flinn converting an and-one and Spinelli netting a trey, but back-to-back Fairmont threes kept them ahead by four. The Spinelli make would be Frostburg's only field goal for the next six minutes, as the only points came through freshman Zaria Gaskins getting to the stripe, while Fairmont built up a 45-29 advantage. In the final two minutes of the half, the Falcons made another from deep but the Bobcats would net the final four points through a split trip by Flinn and a three by Hileman for a 48-36 score at the break.

Muha again put in the first basket of the third, though Fairmont hit right back with eight unanswered to push their lead out to 18 before Gaskins passed to Flinn in the lane. Spinelli scored the next three points all at the free throw line, while Flinn and Sabatos went for back-to-back buckets either side of a pair from the Falcons. The sides traded free throws the rest of the way, with Flinn and Spinelli combining to go 3-of-4 as the deficit stood at 67-50.

Fairmont came out of the fourth with the first eight points, holding Frostburg scoreless for two and a half minutes while pushing their lead to 25. Roman swiped a steal that led to Spinelli converting a putback to break the drought but it would be another three minutes before another Bobcat field goal. The Falcons took the score up to 80-52 halfway through the period before Roman went perfect at the line and Flinn made a mid-range shot. In the final three minutes, Roman put home a triple on a feed from freshman Karlee Hawkins, who combined with classmate Raegan Ogle on four perfect free throws, with the latter also getting a floater to fall, with the final score reading 90-66 Falcons.

Spinelli led all players with a game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds, as Flinn joined her in double-figure scoring at 12.

With the loss, Frostburg drops to 14-14 on the year while Fairmont improves to 20-8. The Bobcats will next head to Wheeling, WV for the Mountain East Conference Tournament as the seven seed, where they will take on tenth-seeded Point Park on Wednesday, March 4.
