MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Frostburg State field hockey team fell in double overtime at Mansfield on Saturday afternoon, losing 2-1.

The Bobcats would end the quarter strong, with sophomore Caroline Earnshaw having a shot blocked, freshman Alayna Enoff drawing a save from keeper Kiley Moister, and senior Emma Price firing wide to end the period at 0-0.
FSU drew a corner 16 seconds into the second quarter, where Moister fended off a shot from sophomore Kenzie Cummins to keep the tie. Less than a minute later after earning a corner, Cummins would find senior Emma Price at the back stick to score the opener. MU would have two early corners in the third, as Frostburg's defense stepped up with a pair of blocks. Continuing to apply pressure, another Mansfield corner found its way to the top of the arc, where Ava Mondulick swept home inside the left post, tying the game at 1-1. Yazzetti then kept things tied two minutes later with a save, as 10 minutes went by before Bobcats would have a chance late, with freshman Izzy Gibbons taking a shot wide to end the third even.
FSU had plenty of chances in the first six minutes of the fourth period, however each of them were blocked before reaching Moister, with Gibbons responsible for three of them. Moister twice thwarted seniors Bri Macchia and Avery Hayden, as the final five minutes then belonged to the Mounties. A whopping six penalty corners were awarded in a short span of time, however Yazzetti stood tall in goal to deny a pair of shots, as each netminder made a stop in the final 90 seconds to take the game to overtime.
The Bobcats had the first two chances of the extra period, where senior Sofia Boyle had a shot blocked while sophomore Ava Shorkey was stopped by Moister. At the other end, MU earned another pair of corners from which Yazzetti matched with two saves. Shorkey then had an effort go off target from a corner, while Mansfield had one blocked and another miss the goal to go into another OT period. Within just 30 seconds, the Mounties won possession and marched down the field, where Alyssa Czekai fed across to Jenna Duke, who went high on Yazzetti and hit the back of the net for the 2-1 winner.
