BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Swimming team took first place at the MEC Relay Meet on Saturday.

The Bobcats immediately began the meet on the front foot, winning each of the first four relays. Sophomore Jenna Handwerger joined seniors Alexis Ramsey and Morgan Greenlee in taking the 300-yard fly at 3:11.48, then graduate Jayme Meadows and freshmen Zoe Jackson and Symantha White won the 300 back at 3:08.02, with the FSU team of juniors Kay Buhrman and Taylor Emrich alongside freshman Messina Barbe earning second in the event at 3:13.19.

FSU followed up with a victory in the 300 breast through sophomores Kallie Gyurisin and Riley DeNard joining freshman Morgan Nagy at 3:40.43. In the 800 free, Frostburg had its most dominant performance of the afternoon, as Handwerger, Rippeon, and Emrich teamed with freshman Addie Ciez to win at 8:15.68, 30 seconds ahead of the second-place team.

Closing out the meet in a pair of 400 medley relays, Jackson, Nagy, Ramsey, and senior Reagan Chase won the first race at 4:15.54, then in the latter event, Greenlee, Ciez, DeNard, and Rippeon finished top at 4:26.74, followed by White, Ramsey, senior Mackenzie Payne, and junior Ashley Ellsworth in second at 4:33.29.

The Bobcats will return to the pool on Saturday, October 10 for a tri-meet with hosts Wheeling as well as West Virginia Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
