BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. - For the third time this season, sophomore Trey Simmons was named the MEC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, as announced by the league office.
In a dominant offensive week, Simmons a
veraged 34.5 points per game in leading the team to a 2-0 record. He scored 34 points on a perfect 12-for-12 performance from the floor and 7-of-7 at the free throw line in the win over Salem. In another clutch performance, he then put up 35 points against Point Park, scoring the game-tying layup to send the game into overtime, then getting the go-ahead layup and free throw in the extra period before effectively sealing the game with a steal and two free throws. Across the two contests, he added seven total assists, a block, and four steals.
