Women's Basketball Announces Coaching Staff for 2024-25 Season

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State Women's Basketball team and third-year Head Coach Jenna Eckleberry have finalized their coaching staff for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

A familiar face to FSU will be Maggie Sharp, who has taken the Assistant Coach job after a stellar Bobcat playing career. In her graduate season, she set a new program record for three-pointers made in a season, finishing second on the all-time career list, while earning Second Team All-MEC honors for the first time.

"Maggie has helped me tremendously in the short amount her time coaching since her playing days," said Eckleberry. "I've been so impressed with her ability to recruit, she has a niche for finding talent, the right personality to be able to sign players, and we've worked very well together. She's done basketball training her entire life and will be a great asset in developing skills for our players. Anyone that knows Maggie knows how hard she works and the dedication she has towards Frostburg and the Women's Basketball program. The top things I look for in an assistant is being trustworthy and loyal, both of which Maggie has acquired from being raised by a family that has taught her those values, as well as a discipline that will transfer into her coaching career. I'm so excited to work with her as a team and am looking forward to mentoring her in the coaching world. I know I've found the right person for this job."

Also joining the staff is Paul Keeney, who will be the team's Graduate Assistant Coach, having already spent a year in Frostburg in an administrative role. Keeney played college basketball at Division III McDaniel in Westminster, Maryland.

"I'm fortunate to have Paul as a Graduate Assistant. He is passionate about the game and has a great basketball mind. He'll be a great asset in game planning, practices, and workouts. His love for the game and competitive nature will benefit the players tremendously. I have no doubt that he will be able to have a positive effect on this team and that he certainly has a future in coaching." – Eckleberry.

Returning to the staff is Volunteer Assistant Will Leckonby, who also serves as Frostburg's Facilities and Events Coordinator. Similar to Keeney, Leckonby's path took him through the Division III level, where he played at Guilford College in North Carolina.

"Will did a great job for us last year and the players love having him around the team. He brings joy and an energy to the court and him and I have a friendship in return that allows us to work well together. I'm looking forward to him becoming a more vocal coach and having a larger role this season." – Eckleberry.

"Overall, I'm truly blessed to have such great people and coaches on this staff and am hoping to continue our team's success this upcoming season."
