GANNON, PA – The Frostburg State women's wrestling team competed at the NCWWC Regional on Saturday, totaling 28.5 team points on the day and advancing two wrestlers to the national championships.
 
The Bobcats took three wrestlers to hosts Gannon for the team's first look at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships, with freshmen Aurora Walters, Jada Fowler and Lillie Costilla representing FSU.
 
Walters competed at the 116 weight class, finishing in eight place on the day while picking up three team points for FSU. 
 
Fowler received a bye in her first 123 round, then in the quarterfinal matchup she won by tech fall with a 10-0 score. After missing out on a shot at the championship, she recovered to win at the semifinal consolation bracket with a pinfall 48 seconds in, before narrowly losing 4-0 by decision in the third place match. 
 
Costilla recived two byes on the day in the 130 bracket, dropping her first match in the semifinals by tech fall. She went on to take FSU's best place of the day, winning the third place match with a 6-2 decision.
 
As top-four placers at the Regional Tournament, Fowler and Costilla will head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the 2024 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships. The championships will be held March 8 and 9 at Alliant Energy PowerHouse Arena.
