QUÉBEC, Canada -
Former Frostburg State Baseball player Ryan Roell has signed a professional contract with the Québec Capitales of the Frontier League, a professional independent baseball league.
One of the top power hitters in program history, Roell set what was at the time the single-season home run record in 2019 (16), which has since been surpassed by current junior Ethan Kiple. Roell stands 10th in all-time career home runs at 21, while also hitting 27 doubles and a pair of triples in his three-year FSU career.
The
Capitales joined the Frontier League in 2022 after a merger with the Can-Am League, the team's previously affiliated league. They are fresh off winning the Frontier League title in 2022, defeating the Schaumburg Boomers in the championship series.
