FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State Baseball Team had four players named NCBWA All-Atlantic Region, as announced by the organization on Wednesday.
Junior Ethan Kiple was named to the All-Atlantic Region Second Team as a relief pitcher. Kiple recorded five saves on the year, to go along with 15 appearances and 26.2 innings pitched, finishing with a 4-0 record, .34 ERA, and a total of 39 strikeouts. He also led the team in hits and RBI, while breaking the program single season and career records for home runs. Kiple has also been named First Team All-MEC as a first baseman, Second Team All-MEC as a relief pitcher, and received Academic All-District Honors as well.
The trio of sophomores in Randy Steen, Danny Estrada, and Jacob Stretch all received All-Atlantic Region Honorable Mention. Steen, the team's second baseman, led the team in batting average with .379, for 66 hits, 39 runs, 35 RBI, and 34 stolen bases in 37 attempts. As the starting center fielder, Estrada finished with a .269 batting average to go along with 45 hits, 43 RBI, 15 stolen bases in 19 attempts, and a team-leading 53 runs. Stretch, in his first season as a starting pitcher, finished with a record of 6-1 in 47 innings pitched, going for a 2.68 ERA, one complete game, and 63 strikeouts.
