FROSTBURG, Md. - Frostburg State freshman Emilee Weakley has been named the World Exposure Report NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Freshman of the Year, as well as earning a spot on the Honorable Mention All-American Team. Of the 40 women honored, Weakley was the only freshman to be named to the team and one of three athletes from the Mountain East Conference. 
 
Weakley finished the year averaging 25.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, leading NCAA Division II in scoring and recording 19 double-doubles on the season, good enough to be tied for fifth in the country. 
 
In a record-setting freshman year, Weakley was able to set the Frostburg State and Mountain East Conference single game and single season scoring records. Her single-game scoring record came in a key overtime victory over West Liberty, with her 47 points paving the way to a win, which included a half court heave that tied the game at the end of regulation and was featured on ESPN's Late Night SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt. Over the course of the season, she scored 766 total points, topping the conference's previous mark of 755 set in 2018-19 and the program mark of 633 that had gone all the way back to 1988-89.
