FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State men's basketball team fell to Davis & Elkins by a score of 91-83 at home on Wednesday night.
The Bobcats started off strong with a three ball from senior Agyei Edwards to open scoring at 3-0. The senators answered back with three made free throws and a three pointer from DJ Henderson to put them up 6-3. Baskets were traded back and forth with senior Bo Schene, junior Jason Murphy and senior Jamil Jones combined for 13 consecutive points to put the Bobcats up 16-14. Junior Jaylin Albury entered the game immediately having an impact scoring seven points for the Bobcats and a 23-16 lead. In the last five minutes of the half FSU would play well leading the Senators 44-36. The largest lead in the half was 10 by FSU at 41-31. FSU ended the first half with a higher free throw, three-point, and field goal percentage than D&E.Â
FSU came out and scored the first four points of the half on back-to-back baskets from Murphy taking the Bobcat lead to 48-36. The Senators would answer with a three before Jones would make a pair of foul shots. D&E would cut the lead down to 50-47 at 17:15 left to play in the game. Graduate Juston Bailey would hit a three to stretch the FSU back to nine at 58-49.
Eight minutes into the second half FSU was up nine points over D&E 64-55. The Senators would go on a run to make the game 66-65 FSU. Edwards answered back with a quick basket 68-65. Nonetheless, Vadim Clanet hit a three to tie the game 68-68. The game would be tied four times until the last two minutes of the game when D&E would pull away. D&E would go on to win 91-83.
In the second half the Bobcats went 100% from the free throw line and had a higher field goal percentage than the Senators. Murphy, Schene and Edwards all scored double figures.Â
