BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. – Junior Cat Smith was named MEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Smith helped Frostburg to two MEC wins over Davis & Elkins on the road, and Concord at home. Smith scored the opening goal of the game against the Senators, leading the defense to a 2-0 shutout. She also powered the Bobcats defense to a 2-1 comeback victory over the Mountain Lions, playing a full 180 minutes combined. Against CU, a top-five scoring team in all of Division II and the goal leaders in the MEC, Smith aided in allowing just six shots on goal for the contest. 

It marks the second week that she has received the honor, having also done so in the first week of the season.
