GAME NOTESĀ

-LAST TIME OUT FOR FSUĀ Ā

Ā  Ā -Frostburg State picked up a week three win on the road against Charleston, with a wild contest filled with big plays on both sides of the ball. After going up 10-0 in the second quarter, Frostburg State wouldĀ yield 14 unanswered points and trail 14-10. With moments left in the first half, redshirt freshman WR Jordan Marcucci would catch a one yard touchdown from backup QB sophomore Isaiah Lester, putting FSU into the locker room with a 17-14 lead. Later in the third quarter, UCWV would find the end zone on a 54 yard pass, giving them the lead back at 21-20. The next two scores would come once again from Marcucci, as he would record back to back touchdown passes of five and 73 yards, for the Bobcats to lead 34-21. UCWV would score to draw close at 34-28 and would get the ball back after a missed FSU field goal. Once again however, redshirt freshman S Wylan Harrich would grab the fourth turnover of the day for the defense to secure the victory. The Bobcats would generate over 500 yards of total offense on top of four defensive takeaways in the win.

-SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN LIONSĀ Ā
Ā  Ā -Concord comes into the contest undefeated for the first time since since 2014 through three games, but struggled in their last contest in the second half on the road at West Virginia Wesleyan. After amassing a 34-17Ā  lead at the half, Concord would stay silent on the scoring and work to hold off WVWC as they chipped away at the deficit. After scoring 15 unanswered points, WVWC would turn the ball over on their final drive looking to get a win. Despite the close call, the Mountain Lions would rack up 575 total yards in the win, with 368 coming through the air.Ā

-CONCORD HEAD COACHĀ
Ā  Ā -Dave Walker took over the Concord football program in December of 2019, with a different road to collegiate coaching than others. Walker carried a decorated high school coaching career prior to joining Concord, with Martinsburg and East Hardy High Schools. Walker owns the state record for high school playoff victories with 53 and has captured eight state titles with the Bulldogs. 300 wins over 32 years in the high school football realm brought him to CU and he stands above the .500 mark all time with the Mountain Lions, a team that registered one victory in the season before he was hired after a trip to the National Semifinals as a program in 2014.Ā

-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK GOING HEAD-TO-HEADĀ
Ā  Ā -This week, the MEC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week will go up against each other in QB Jack Mangel for Concord and redshirt freshman S Wylan Harrich for Frostburg State.Ā

Mangel, from Athens, Ga., led Concord to a 34-32 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday by completing 27-of-35 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 21 yards. He threw touchdown passes to four different receivers from distances of 67-, 11-, 23- and 7-yards away. The performance was Mangel's sixth passing performance of at least 350 yards.

Harich, a safety from Point of Rocks, Md., led the Frostburg State defense with eight tackles (6 solo) and a pair of interceptions on Saturday afternoon as the Bobcats topped Charleston 34-28. His second interception of the day sealed the win as Charleston began a drive with 2:19 remaining in the fourth quarter – trailing by six. On the first play of the drive, Harich nabbed the interception, allowing the Frostburg State offense to regain possession and run out the clock. Harich now has two multiple interception games during the 2022 season following a two-interception performance in week one against American International.
