-A NEW CHAPTER
Ā Ā -Frostburg State's contest vs American International marks the first matchup for the program against the Northeast-10. FSU has competed against one other conference in Super Region 1, with two victories over the GMAC Kentucky Wesleyan in 2019 and 2021. SR1 is comprised of the MEC, NE-10, GMAC and the PSAC in football groupings.
-ELIGIBLE AGAIN
Ā Ā -FSU completed its full membership requirements to join NCAA Division II this summer, and with it comes the ability to join in postseason play at the NCAA level. The Bobcats last appeared in the postseason in the 2018 season, dropping a contest to #13 Johns Hopkins in the second round at Bobcat Stadium.
-SHAKING THINGS UP
Ā Ā -Frostburg State captured a share of the MEC Conference Championship in 2021, shaking up the conference that season as well as in the record books. Since the inception of the conference in 2013, two schools had never tied (NDC and FSU 9-1 in conference play). NDC had captured three titles solo in 2018, 2019 and 2020.Ā Ā
-LOOKING TO CHANGE COURSE
Ā Ā -The MEC as a whole went just 2-5 in nonconference opening week play a season ago. Frostburg State's 20-13 win over Kentucky Wesleyan and Notre Dame's 42-35 OT victory over Ashland stand as the lone wins.Ā
-GETTING NOTICED EARLYĀ
Ā Ā -Frostburg State is one again commanding national attention, sitting just outside of the AFCA Preseason Top 25 Poll, as the top receiving votes institution with 97 votes. MEC foe Notre Dame is the lone MEC school within the Top 25 sitting at #10.
-DEFENDING HOME TURFĀ
Ā Ā -FSU had a clean sweep at home in the 2021 season, going a perfect 5-0 in that span and have won their last eight home games dating back to the 2019 season, where they would drop a contest to then #6 Notre Dame College 35-13.Ā
-NEW ERA IN THE PROGRAM
Ā Ā -Eric Wagoner takes over as Head Coach of the FSU program this season after previously serving as Defensive Coordinator the last two seasons.
