SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.- The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team traveled to Shepherd on Saturday afternoon to take on the Rams in an 11-9 loss.
In the first quarter, the Bobcats would start off strong with a nice goal from graduate Stephanie king. The Rams would answer back, but FSU took the lead right back with a goal from junior Cammie Schniedwind. The Rams once again responded to tie the game. Junior Cameron Baldwin would take the lead back for Frostburg, but Shepherd answered back with two straight goals, making the end of the first a 4-3 Rams lead.
In the second quarter, the Rams came out with an early goal, but sophomore Anna Kearney would score to make it a one-point game. Shortly after, Baldwin would get a goal to tie the game up again on a free position shot. Shepherd responded with back-to-back goals to take a 7-5 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, the Bobcats would score first with a goal from Kearney off a free position shot. The Rams would answer back with two goals of their own. Frostburg scored a goal from King, but another two Ram goals would bring the end of the third 11-7.
In the fourth quarter, FSU closed the gap with a goal from Kearney off a free position shot. Freshman Sarah Allgaier added a late goal to cut the deficit to two, but the comeback was too late, with the Rams taking victory 11-9.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 0-4 on the season while the Rams rise to 2-1. Frostburg's next contest will be against Walsh (Ohio) on Saturday, March 12 at 3 PM. For more information and updates, visit www.frostburgsports.com.
