LAKELAND, Fla.- The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team took on No. 13 Florida Southern in game two of their Florida trip, where the Moccasins got the win 16-10.
In the first quarter, FSC got off to a hot start with a quick goal, but the Bobcats would be able to answer back with a man-down goal from senior Jake Bowman. Florida Southern would get another two goals of their own, but an amazing save from senior goalkeeper Kevin Reuther would add a spark for FSU. Junior Bubba Love scored a top-shelf goal, followed by another great goal from Bowman to tie the game. The Mocs, however, would get the final two goals of the quarter to go up 5-3.
In the second quarter, Frostburg got off to a hot start with a nice goal from sophomore Tyler Dooley, then redshirt-junior Tanner Donaldson would get two goals and senior Joey Boros tacked on one more to put the Bobcats in the lead at 7-5. FSC recovered to tie the game with two quick goals, but Donaldson would get capitalize on a man-up opportunity to snag a goal before halftime with 15 seconds left, giving FSU the lead at 8-7.
In the third quarter, Frostburg got off to a strong start with another goal from Boros to get back to a two-goal lead, but the Moccasins would be able to answer back, going on a four-goal run to take an 11-9 lead. The Bobcats would have chances to answer but couldn't find the back of the net, ending the third quarter with Florida Southern still in front by two.
In the fourth quarter, FSU got a quick man-up goal from Donaldson and Reuther would make some great saves to keep the Bobcats within one. The Mocs, however, would hold the Frostburg offense quiet the rest of the way, scoring five goals unanswered to win 16-10.Â
Donaldson led the offense with four goals on the day, while Reuther had an astounding 19 saves in net. Freshmen defenders Seamus Kearney and Landon Bruce had fantastic defensive days, with each getting four caused turnovers and combining for seven groundballs.Â
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-3 while the Moccasins rise to 7-3. Frostburg will be back on the road to take on Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, March 26 at 12 PM. For more information and updates visit, www.frostburgsports.com.
