Dombroski Caps Senior Night with Season High in Loss

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State women's basketball team hosted Fairmont on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Fighting Falcons 103-70 in their season finale.

Prior to tip-off, the Bobcats honored senior guard Morgan Dombroski, as she reaches the end of her Frostburg career.

From the tip, the Bobcat offense struggled to find the basket, as it was Dombroski got the scoring started, knocking down a much-needed free throw.  Junior Maggie Sharp entered the game and quickly made an impact, knocking down her first three-pointer of the afternoon. Dombroski closed out the first quarter with a pair of buckets, bringing the score to 25-12 Fairmont.

The second quarter opened with sophomore Brenae Ford knocking down her first jump shot of the day. Sophomore Rhianna Hall then got in on the offense, dropping in back-to-back layups. Dombroski added to her senior day with a turn-around jumper, along with her first three of the game. Sophomore Samiya Esema finished out the quarter by powering through the Fairmont defense, bringing the first half score to 39-28 Falcons.

Dombroski brought a spark to the Bobcat offense in the third, scoring nine out of ten opening points, including her second three of the afternoon. This would bring Dombroski to a team high 19 points midway through the third. Hall got in on the offense by powering to the basket to drop in two layups. Dombroski added in her third three of the game, along with a trio of layups from the Bobcats. The third quarter came to the close in favor of Farimont 73-52.

Dombroski opened the fourth quarter by dropping in a pull-up jumper. Hall once again drove to the basket for a layup, but Fairmont would then go on a 13-point run, bringing the score to 97-58 Falcons with three minutes to go. Redshirt-sophomore Kyrsten Joseph made an impact upon entering the game late in the game by adding a pair of baskets for the Bobcats, but the game ended in favor of Fairmont 103-70.

Dombroski ended her career leading the Bobcats with 24 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Hall joined her in double figures with 11 points, while sophomore Niya Moore had a solid defensive outing with three steals and a block.

With the loss, the Bobcats end their season at 5-22, while the Fighting Falcons improve to 14-12 as they head to the MEC Tournament.
