Men's Lacrosse Falls in Season Opener

FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State men's lacrosse team hosted Lake Erie in their season opener, where they fell 14-11. 
 
In the first quarter, the Storm got off to a hot start with a 3-0 lead, as senior Joey Boros would get the first goal for the Bobcats with two minutes remaining in the quarter to bring FSU back within two. The Storm would score two more times, bringing the end of the first quarter up 5-1. 
 
In the second quarter, The Bobcats would start off strong with a goal by senior Ty Oehlerking. Lake Erie widened the gap with a three-goal run before a rocket shot by senior Matthew Ward with under a minute left took things into halftime with the Storm up 8-3.  
 
In the third quarter, Lake Erie struck first to make it a six-goal game, but the Bobcats would immediately follow up with a goal from Boros, then redshirt-junior Tanner Donaldson and Boros scored back-to-back goals to bring FSU back within three. The Storm would score one more goal, as both teams went scoreless for the final four-and-a-half minutes, bringing the end of the third with Lake Erie up 10-6.  
 
In the fourth quarter, it would be a back-and-forth, with both teams' offenses scoring in key moments. The Storm started the scoring before Jake Bowman scored back-to-back goals. Lake Erie responded with two goals of their own, then Ward scored a pair of goals that came in a span of 30 seconds. Bubba Love would get the last goal of the game for the Bobcats, but it wasn't enough to get by the Storm, with the final being 14-11.  
 
Boros and Ward would end the game both having three goals, while Bowman provided three assists on the day. 
 
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 0-1 and the Storm rise to 1-2 on the season. Frostburg will next be on the road where they will face No. 2 Tampa on Saturday, March 5 at 12 PM in Charlotte, N.C. For more information and updates, visit www.frostburgsports.com
