FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State Men's Basketball team picked up a crucial 90-72 win at home over the Wheeling University Cardinals in their pursuit of their first berth into the MEC Conference Tournament in school history. 

Frostburg State opened up the game on a 17-5 run within the first five minutes of the contest, and the Bobcat offense would continue to produce throughout the first half until the Cardinals would take the lead back 30-29 with around three minutes left in the first half. Wheeling's offense would keep with Frostburg and bring the first half to a close with a 36-34 Bobcat lead.

The Bobcats would continue their hot-shooting day by increasing their lead upwards of double digits taking a 21 point lead with three minutes remaining at 85-64. Finishing out the remaining few minutes as the Bobcats would go on to defeat Wheeling in the second game of the season series and earn a split with the Cardinals. 

Frostburg State improved to 7-19 (5-15 MEC) and Wheeling fell to 8-18 (7-13 MEC). Junior Agyei Edwards posted 27 points in the win, junior Bo Schene would add 21 points and graduate student Canaan Bartley would add 14 points in the winning effort for FSU. The win would push Frostburg State back into tenth place in the MEC Standings, jumping Davis & Elkins who held the spot at the beginning of the day.

Frostburg State returns to action on February 23 when they travel to face Davis & Elkins at 7:30 PM from Elkins in a crucial contest between the two that will help to decide the tenth seed in the tournament. A win would clinch the tournament berth for FSU and send them to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling on March 2.
