FROSTBURG, Md - Graduate student Canaan Bartley posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats in their second matchup with the Notre Dame College Falcons on Saturday in Bobcat Arena.
FSU had opened up an early seven point lead in the first half when Bartley threw down a thunderous dunk to put the Bobcats up 14-7. The Frostburg offense continued to keep pace in a low-scoring first half, as NDC didn't take the lead back until within the final minute of the first half at 30-28. This is where the score would remain at the end of the half, as both teams only shot within the thirty percent margin during the time.
The Falcons would open up the second half on a strong note, surging to take a ten point lead early 41-31. Immediately after this, a small 7-0 run would bring FSU back close at 41-38, and Frostburg would continue to fight on the offensive end and keep things close headed towards the back end of the second half. After drawing close again at only a five point deficit of 54-51, the Bobcats would end up falling behind and not be able to catch back up to NDC.
The Falcons would reach a lead as high as 14 points in the second half of 69-55 within two minutes left in the second half, but Notre Dame College would go on to win 74-63 and take the season series over FSU. In addition to Bartley's 18 points, leading scorers for Frostburg State were junior Agyei Edwards with 20 points and junior Juston Bailey with eight points. NDC improved to 15-9 (12-6 MEC) while FSU would fall to 6-18 (4-14 MEC) and the loss marked seven in a row for Frostburg State.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, February 16 when they hit the road to face #4 West Liberty for the second time this season. FSU dropped the first matchup at home to the Hilltoppers 124-84. Part two of the season series will tip-off at 7:30 PM from West Liberty.
