GAME NOTES

-LAST TIME OUT FOR FROSTBURG STATE

-Frostburg State hit the road last week and traveled down to West Virginia Wesleyan as the two Bobcat schools of the MEC faced-off in Buckhannon. Frostburg State's defense would be the story in the matchup, shutting out WVWC 37-0. Frostburg State kept the WVWC rushing attack silent in the matchup, as they registered -10 total rushing yards. In addition to a season low in rushing yards allowed, FSU forced four turnovers, two interceptions coming from senior LB Dylan Culpen, with one being returned for a 37 yard touchdown and two separate fumble recoveries. The win kept the all time series spotless for FSU, as they have never lost to WVWC.

-SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
-West Liberty traveled to West Virginia State to face the Yellow Jackets last Saturday. After a high flying first quarter that ended 14-14, WVSU would begin to create some separation. WVSU would score the next 14 unanswered to go up 28-14, but WL would add a few more point and set the score at 28-24 at the end of the first half. WVSU would come out in the second half and rack up 14 more unanswered points to lead 42-24 in the fourth. A late touchdown for WL would make the score 42-32, but the Hilltoppers would fall in their road finale.

-WEST LIBERTY HEAD COACH
-Roger Waialae leads all MEC coaches in victories with 92 in the midst of his 18th season on the hilltop. Waialae spent one year at Dubuque as offensive coordinator before heading overseas for a year as a player-coach with the Munich Rangers of the German-American Football League. He served two years as offensive coordinator at Bethany (W.Va.) College before coming to West Liberty as an assistant coach in 1992. His 92 wins since taking over as Head Coach in 2005 rank second all-time in WL football history, as he is closing in on Joe Bartell's 118 wins from 1933-56. A native of Hawaii, Waialae is one of only three Pacific Islanders working as an NCAA Head Coach and the only one at the Division II level.
