FAIRMONT, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Men's Swimming team stayed undefeated on the year as they beat Fairmont State 154-108 on Saturday afternoon in a road meet.
The victory was the men's team's first-ever win over the Fighting Falcons since joining the MEC.
Sophomore Nate Canapp got the Bobcats on the board with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:12.32), while also adding later individual wins in the 500-yard free (5:00.63) and 400-yard IM (4:21.16).
Freshman Julian Najarro Sedar also had a fine day, winning the 50-yard free (22.28) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.39). Junior Noah Loper added a pair of solo wins in the 200- and 100-yard free events in times of 1:47.52 and 49.40, respectively. Junior PJ Emrich had the final individual victory of the meet in the 200-yard butterfly (2:06.01).
The team of Loper, Najarro Sedar, junior Jackson Miller, and freshman Andrew Weatherhold rounded out the meet with a team win in the 400-yard freestyle. Just behind them, freshman Josh Horner, sophomore Jaden Tipton, junior Andy Creelman, and Canapp combined to take second in the event, finishing ahead of the Fighting Falcons' A team.
With the win, Frostburg improves to 2-0 on the year, while Fairmont falls to 0-2. The Bobcats return to the pool for their first home meet of the season against Mary Washington on Friday, November 11 at 2:30 p.m. Information and updates will be posted at frostburgsports.com.
