ELKINS, W. Va. – The Frostburg State Women's Swim team earned their first victory of the season, as they defeated Davis & Elkins 104-98 but lost 125-77 to California (Pa.) in a road tri-meet.

Freshman Gabriela Betancourt picked up the first victory of the day in the 200-yard freestyle in an impressive time of 2:04.64. Junior Liz Perry was the next to join on the action, with a win in the 50-yard free (25.96), followed by back-to-back first place finishes by sophomore Kendall Hooper in the 200-yard IM (2:18.15) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.80).

Betancourt also earned a pair of second places, one a solo in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.26), just a tenth of a second off of first place, then joining Perry, Hooper, and sophomore Natasha Paciello in the 200-yard medley relay (1:57.05).

The all-sophomore team of Amaya Burke, Madison Kauffman, Alexis Council, and Paciello also finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 4:06.06.

With the split, Frostburg is now 1-3 on the year, as the Vulcans also defeated the Senators to put their respective records at 4-0 and 0-2. The women are back in the pool next Saturday, October 29 as they travel to Fairmont State for a 1 p.m. meet. Information and updates will be posted to frostburgsports.com.
