FAIRMONT, W.Va.-Â The Frostburg State men's basketball team traveled to Fairmont State where both teams battled till the end in a 97-89 win for the No. 14 ranked Fighting Falcons.

In the first half, the Bobcats came out strong with a made basket from junior Torrin Stephens and a three from junior Agyei Edwards. Junior Bo Schene then came up with a steal that led to a fastbreak layup, making the early score 7-2 Bobcats. Both teams would trade shots all half with each team having the lead ten different times. At the end of the first half, a three from Edwards and a jumper from Schene made the score 43-45 with Frostburg only trailing by two.

In the second half, the Falcons would come out hot, but a nice three pointer from sophomore Jaylon Johnson would help cut the deficit to 53-47 for the Bobcats. After a missed Falcon layup, graduate student Canaan Bartley would get the rebound and find sophomore Marcellus Carroll for a fast-break slam dunk that brought energy to Frostburg. Edwards and graduate Jihar Williams would have multiple threes in the last 10 minutes of the game, cutting the lead to two points on three separate occasions. With three seconds left in the game, Johnson would add another three to the score, but ultimately the Flacons would come away with a 97-89 victory.

The Bobcats were led by Edwards with 23 points to go along with six assists and Bartley, who had 22 points and eight rebounds.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 6-12 while the Falcons rise to 15-2 on the year. The Bobcats will next travel to Charleston on Wednesday, January 26 at 7:30 PM. For more information and updates, visitÂ
