FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State Women's basketball team fell to Division I opponent Howard University 100-53 on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Arena.
The Bobcats hung with the Bison for the majority of the first half, thanks to the offensive effort from junior Maggie Sharp, who contributed 11 points, including drilling three three-pointers. Howard would use the offensive glass and a balanced offense to great effect, getting out to a 50-29 lead going into the third quarter.
The Bison started the second half much like the first half and got three quick buckets. The run was halted by a floater from sophomore Rhiana Hall, who ended the day with six points, three assists, and three boards. Howard's offense was too much for the Bobcat defense, as the Bison wound up 100-53 winners.
Sharp was the lone Bobcat to score in double figures, as she shot 50% from three (4-8) on her way to a game-high 20 points.
With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 2-13 on the year and Howard jumps to 6-6. FSU will be back in action Monday, January 17 as they travel to Wheeling to take on the Cardinals at 6:00 P.M. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
