MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - On Wednesday evening, the Frostburg State field hockey team fell against the No. 6 ranked Millersville Marauders 6-0.
Millersville got on the board just 3:08 into the contest when Bri Harsh took a pass from Pili Zaballa on a corner and snuck it by Bobcat junior goalkeeper Madison Manalansan. At 7:55 in the quarter, Kayla Michaels scored when a penalty corner was handled by Ashlynn Lennon, who passed it to the left side and was rifled into the net by Michaels.
With 19 seconds left in the second quarter, the Marauders scored for the third time in the opening half, off a bullet that Qhayiya Nogoduka shot from the 23 that quickly got by Manalansan.
The second half opened with a shot that got by Manalansan, but was saved right in front of the goal by sophomore Maddie Wallis. That was followed up 36 seconds later by a laser from Michaels, who tallied her second goal of the contest to put the Marauders up 4-0.
Millersville would get two more goals in the third quarter, with a goal from Morgan Saunders that was assisted by Harsh. A few seconds later, Harsh put in her second of the game that was assisted off a pass from Brynne Ehrlacher to make it 6-0.
The fourth quarter resulted in zero goals for either team for a final score of 6-0. Manalansan finished the day with 14 saves. The Bobcats were out-shot 26-0 and Millersville was awarded 20 penalty corners in the contest.
Frostburg now sits at 0-2 on the year, while the Marauders improve to 2-0. The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, September 11 in St. Charles, Mo. for a 1 p.m. start against Lindenwood.
