FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State Women's Soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw with Notre Dame (Ohio) on Saturday afternoon at Bobcat Stadium.
The first half started out with the Bobcats on the front foot, with senior Lexi Pate earning a corner, from which sophomore Toni Fiocco-Mizer put a shot on goal that Falcon keeper Jordan Pasalaqua saved. Both sides would trade a pair of shots the rest of the half, with Frostburg having the majority of possession.
In the second half, NDC came alive, dominating possession but not creating any clear-cut opportunities. Their best chance came in the 74
th minute, as some nice work from Louisa Follert down the wing got the ball to Sammy Salatino with sophomore Ashley Bilger's goal open, but sophomore Lela Clark made a fine block to preserve the clean sheet. Frostburg would get back into the game in the last 10 minutes, getting off six shots, with Fiocco-Mizer going closest with a curling effort that Pasalaqua palmed away. Neither side found a goal as the game went to overtime.
Frostburg started out strong again, almost winning the game just two minutes in as a corner fell in the box to sophomore Caroline Burton, who volleyed onto the post with Pasalaqua beaten. FSU would also have the better chances in the second overtime, with Pate hitting the outside of the post on a shot, but still the Bobcats could not breach the Falcon goal as the game ended 0-0.
With the tie, FSU moves to 4-2-1 on the year, while the Falcons now sit at 1-2-2. Frostburg returns to action Wednesday, September 29 with a road trip to Fairmont State, with kick-off set for 7 PM. For information and updates stay tuned at frostburgsports.com.
