King and Stephens Score Four Each in Bobcat Win

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team had an impressive outing on Thursday evening, defeating the Davis & Elkins Senators by a final score of 14-7. The Bobcats were led by senior Stephanie King with four goals and two assists, while sophomore Lilly Stephens scored four goals of her own.
 
The win moves the Bobcats to 5-3 on the season, while the Senators drop to 3-2.
 
Frostburg jumped out to a two-goal lead with senior Summer Cavey scoring back-to-back goals. The Senators answered with two goals of their own to tie the game at 2-2 at the 17:07 mark. Stephens responded by scoring 30 seconds later to give Frostburg a 3-2 lead. Stephens netted her second goal of the day on a man-up goal, securing a 4-2 lead.
 
After D&E scored to cut the deficit back to one, first-year Anna Kearney scored her first goal of the game, with FSU taking a 5-3 lead with ten minutes left in the first half. Sophomore Cammie Schniedwind scored with five minutes to go in the half to give FSU a 6-3 lead going into halftime.
 
The Senators opened the second half with a goal four minutes in to cut Frostburg's lead to two. King went on to score back-to-back goals off two assists from senior Lindsay Kohlmann to increase their lead to 8-4. The Senators responded with a goal before King earned a hat trick off an assist from first-year Erin Bryce, restoring their four-goal lead at 9-5.
 
After a Senator goal, Bryce scored off an assist from King before Stephens netted back-to-back goals, increasing the Frostburg lead to six at 12-6. The Senators scored to make the score 12-7 before King scored her fourth of the evening to put FSU on top 13-7. Kearney scored the final goal of the game on a man-down play to give Frostburg the 14-7 win.
 
Frostburg returns to action on Sunday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. as the Bobcats travel to Notre Dame (Ohio) to take on the Falcons. For more information, visit frostburgsports.com.
