ELKINS, W. Va. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team earned a hard-fought win Sunday afternoon defeating the Davis & Elkins Senators by a final score of 11-6. Frostburg was led by sophomore Cammie Schniedwind with three goals and two assists, while senior Stephanie King added four goals on the day.

The win moves the Bobcats to 9-4 on the season, while the senators fall to 5-5.

The hosts got on the board first with a goal a minute into the contest to go on top 1-0. The Bobcats tied the game four minutes later with a goal from King off an assist from first-year Willow Walters to make it 1-1. King scored again off an assist from senior Summer Cavey at the 21:10 minute mark to put the Bobcats on top 2-1. The Senators answered a minute later with a goal to tie the game at 2-2.

Sophomore Lilly Stephens got her first goal of the game to give Frostburg a 3-2 lead. Schniedwind scored 30 seconds later to give the Bobcats a two-goal lead at 4-2. At the 14:52 mark, the Senators scored a free position goal to cut the Frostburg lead to one at 4-3. With five seconds remaining in the first half, Cavey got in on the scoring netting her first goal of the game to give Frostburg a 5-3 lead going into halftime. Â

Davis & Elkins netted a goal two minutes into the second half to again cut the Frostburg lead to one at 5-4. King put the Bobcats up by two with a goal off an assist from Schniedwind to make it 6-4. Two minutes later, Schniedwind connected with junior Shelby Brunett giving Frostburg a 7-4 lead. At the 18:06 mark, Brunett netted her second goal of the game while the Bobcats were a player down to increase their lead to 8-4.

After a Senators goal, King scored again off an assist from senior Lindsay Kohlmann to make it 9-5 in favor of Frostburg with 12:49 remaining in the game. Schniedwind netted another goal with 1:24 left on the clock to increase Frostburg's lead at 10-5. 30 seconds later, Cavey connected with Schniedwind to make the score 11-5 before the hosts scored the final goal of the day allowing Frostburg to win 11-6.

First-year goalkeeper McKenna Shay got the start in the cage registering 11 saves and allowing only six goals. The defense was led by junior Mackenzie Cramer with two caused turnovers, four groundballs, and two draw controls.
