Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bobcats Fall to Senators at Home

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State men's soccer dropped its home game on Friday night at Bobcat Stadium, falling by a score of 2-0 to Davis & Elkins. The loss drops the Bobcats to 2-4 on the season, while the Senators improve to 5-1.

The match was the first at home for the Bobcats in over a month, as they last played at home back on February 28, a 2-0 win over Wheeling.

D&E got off to a good start, outshooting the Bobcats 5-0 in the first 45 minutes. The lone tally of the first half came in the 29th minute, as a strike from Martin Lago got past junior goalkeeper Parker Shugars to give the Senators a 1-0 lead.

It appeared that the Senators had taken a 2-0 lead early in the second half on a goal from Daniel Cerezo, however the officials conferred with one another and ruled offside on the play, nullifying the goal.

In the 56th minute, a shot from outside the 18-yard box by D&E's David Jara was nicely blocked by first-year Isaiah Dell to prevent a Senator scoring opportunity. Five minutes later, Shugars had to sprawl to his right to make a stop on an Anderson Marroquin shot to keep it a one-goal game.

The Senators would eventually put one through in the 64th minute, as Marroquin fired one home to make it 2-0.

The best chance for the Bobcats came in the 83rd minute. Junior Daniel Juresic played sophomore Tamino Brown through on the near side of the penalty area. Brown evaded his defender and tried to find the near post, but pulled it too far and missed wide right.

The Bobcats return to action next Sunday at 2:00 p.m. as they travel to Buckhannon, W. Va. to face West Virginia Wesleyan. For more information, visit frostburgsports.com.
