Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bobcats Suffer Last-Second Loss on Road

BUCKHANNON, W. Va.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team lost in heartbreaking fashion to West Virginia Wesleyan Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 on a goal with eight seconds left in the match. The loss puts FSU at 2-5 on the year, while Wesleyan improves to 4-3.

Frostburg had the first couple of chances in the game, with sophomore Tamino Brown firing over the bar on the first attempt of the game in the 11th minute. 15 minutes later, senior Randy Putnam was played through brilliantly by sophomore Gage Adam, however Wesleyan goalkeeper Sahil Dhunnookchand came out to make an excellent save.

Wesleyan would then create the majority of the chances for the half, outshooting FSU 5-0, however none of the shots were on target. Wesleyan would continue to keep the pressure on FSU, with the first three shots in the second half. The best chance amongst those was a header six yards out from Sinasi Emre Deniz, but junior Joel Assal made a great save to his left to keep the score at 0-0.

Brown would have a chance just over a minute left, but his shot got a deflection to take it wide. After the corner, Wesleyan took possession back and sent a long ball towards Frostburg's box. The ball was headed out, but there to meet it was Gustavo Hernandez, who fired a sweet volley past Assal, giving Wesleyan the 1-0 win with eight seconds remaining.

Frostburg returns to the field Friday, April 16, for their final match of the season against West Liberty at Bobcat Field. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m., for more information head to frostburgsports.com.
