Frostburg Drops Road Contest at Charleston

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Frostburg State women's lacrosse team fell on the road Saturday afternoon to the Charleston Golden Eagles by a final score of 17-15. Senior Summer Cavey led the Bobcats with four goals, one assist, four groundballs, and two draw controls.
 
The loss puts the Bobcats at 7-4 on the season while the Golden Eagles move to 4-7.
 
First-year Grace Bagosy got the scoring going for the Bobcats on a free position goal two minutes into the game. The hosts quickly answered on a man-up goal to tie the game at 1-1. First-year Anna Kearney netted a goal off an assist from senior Lindsay Kohlmann to put FSU up 2-1. Charleston scored back-to-back goals before Kohlmann got a goal of her own, tying the game at 3-3. After the Golden Eagles took the lead at 4-3, sophomore Lilly Stephens netted a goal off an assist from senior Maggie Roszko to tie the game at 4-4.
 
Cavey scored three straight goals to give the Bobcats a 7-4 advantage with 15 minutes left to play in the first half. After two goals from the hosts, Cavey scored her fourth goal of the day to put FSU up 8-6. Charleston scored to make it 8-7 before two straight Kohlmann free position goals gave Frostburg a 10-7 lead. Charleston netted a goal to make it 10-8 before junior Lucy Baukhages scored to make it 11-8 with three minutes in the half. Junior Shelby Brunett scored off an assist from Baukhages to give Frostburg a 12-8 advantage going into halftime.
 
Charleston came out of halftime and scored the next nine goals, putting the Bobcats down by five at 17-12 before Roszko netted a goal off an assist from Cavey to cut the deficit down to four at 17-13. First-year Willow Walters scored her first goal of the game off an assist from Stephens to bring the Bobcats within three at 17-14 with two minutes remaining in the game. Junior Paige Bittner scored the final goal of the day to make the score 17-15 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
