FROSTBURG, Md.- The Frostburg State men's soccer team fell in the final game of their season 5-0 to the West Liberty Hilltoppers. Frostburg opened the game on the front foot, controlling much of the possession in WLU's half, but were unable to create many concrete chances. Junior Vaughn Phillips had the first shot on goal of the game, but his effort was saved by Noah Underwood.
Â
The Hilltoppers grew into the game, but none of their shots were on target. Senior Randy Putnam was the next Bobcat to test Underwood, who parried it back to Putnam. Putnam tried to feed first-year Malek Shedid, but he fired over the crossbar.
Â
West Liberty would then get a goal against the run of play, as Vitor Otsuka played Josh Yeaman through, as he chipped over junior goalkeeper Parker Shugars.
Â
The Hilltoppers would take command in the second half, scoring four goals, with FSU mustering just two shots in the half, taking the final score to 5-0.
Â
The result concludes Frostburg's second year in MEC play, finishing 2-6, while West Liberty finishes at 4-4. The men will return to play in the Fall for their official 2021 season, for more information head to frostburgsports.com.
